OpenSea, a decentralized exchange for digital collectibles like Cryptokitties, has introduced an Ebay-style auction system for the assets traded on the platform.

According to the report by Blockchain Gamer, the aim of the auction system is to remove the gas fees for users. The OpenSea servers will figure out the best bid for a given asset and do the match.

While this may be good news for users, this also highlights the fact that exchanges like OpenSea are not completely decentralized. It remains to be seen, though, whether this setup creates central-party risks for users.
